Who we are

This website is run by The Canalside Bar & Kitchen, Redding Road, Reddingmuirhead, Falkirk FK2 0DP. We are responsible for any personal information you give us through this site. If you have a question about your information, email info@thecanalsidefalkirk.co.uk or call 01324 431432.

What we collect and why

You can browse this website without telling us who you are. We only hold personal information when you choose to send us a message, book a table or get in touch.

• Contact form. If you use the form on our Find Us page, we collect your name, email address, phone number (if you give it), what your message is about and the message itself. It is emailed to our team and kept in our website’s secure admin area so we can reply and follow up.
• Table bookings. Online bookings are taken by our booking provider, Dojo. When you book, Dojo collects your name, contact details, party size, date and any notes you add, and shares them with us so we can hold your table. Dojo’s own privacy policy explains how they handle your information.
• Emails and phone calls. If you email or call us, we use what you tell us to answer your enquiry or manage your booking or event.
• Website logs. Our web host keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested and the time) to keep the site secure and working. These are deleted automatically after a short period.

Under UK data protection law we rely on: taking the steps you ask for before a booking or function (contract), answering your messages and keeping the site secure (our legitimate interests), and meeting legal obligations such as tax records.

Third-party services on this site

• Dojo for online table bookings (only if you click a booking button).
• Google Maps on our Home and Find Us pages, so you can see where we are. Google may set cookies and receive your IP address when the map loads.
• Google Fonts to display the site’s typefaces. Your browser requests the fonts from Google, which receives your IP address.
• Facebook and Instagram links. These are plain links, and nothing is shared until you click them.

We do not sell your information or use it for marketing unless you ask us to. We do not use analytics or tracking tools on this website. See our cookie policy for more on cookies.

How long we keep it

Contact form messages and emails are kept only as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry or event, and no longer than 12 months. Booking details are held by Dojo under their own retention rules. Anything we must keep by law, such as financial records, is kept for the period the law requires.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it or stop using it. You can also object to how we use it. Email info@thecanalsidefalkirk.co.uk and we will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to sort it out first.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
